Meaningful conversations and meaningful tasks

Musicians, your healthcare providers need to see you play

I had lunch with my elementary and middle school orchestra teacher today. It was wonderful to catch up and reminisce. And I had a chance to thank her for the influence she had on my musical journey and on my life. Music teachers teach people to enjoy music, perform music, and appreciate art. They teach us how to learn new things or gain proficiency. They give you opportunities to be terrible at something and watch yourself get better. If you have a music teacher who has made an impact, be sure to thank them!

Takeaways:
1. The best way to know what is going wrong is to watch clients do the task that is meaningful to them, aka the meaningful task.
2. Physical therapists and healthcare providers need to be watching their musician patients play their instruments.
3. Musicians need to find PTs who know the requirements of being a musician and who can watch you play or sing in your session.

Go tell your music teacher how they changed your life!
